The show season, in one paragraph
Toronto's trade show and expo calendar runs almost every week at four venues — the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (downtown, the conference transportation article), the Enercare Centre at Exhibition Place (the Enercare Centre article), the International Centre on Airport Road (the International Centre article) and the Toronto Congress Centre on Dixon Road — with the year's shape: January's boat show and interior design show, February's auto show, March's PDAC and the home shows, spring's manufacturing, packaging, security and cannabis shows, summer's Collision and the consumer shows, fall's design, gift, construction and franchise shows, November's Royal and the Christmas shows. The transport is the exhibitors' setup and teardown Sprinters, the delegates' hotel loops and the arrival-day coordinators, the organisers' accounts, the venues' 5 p.m. crushes, and a booking horizon of two to three weeks for the large shows — the calendar a corporate booker plans the year around.
The trade show is the black car trade's most regular corporate work in Toronto — a show almost every week at one of four venues, each with its exhibitors' crates, its delegates' hotel loops, its organisers' VIPs and its 5 p.m. crush — and the year's calendar decides the fleet's demand as surely as the airport's peaks: January's boat show fills the Enercare's lots, February's auto show the MTCC's, March's PDAC the whole downtown, the fall's design and gift shows the International Centre's, and November's Royal the Exhibition grounds. A booker who knows the calendar books the show week's Sprinters when the booth is confirmed; one who does not calls the week before and finds the fleet at the show already. This guide covers the four venues and their transport, the calendar month by month, the exhibitor's week, the delegate's week, the organiser's account, the 5 p.m. crush, the hotels by show, the booking horizon, the show's after-hours, and a worked show year.

The four venues and their transport
The MTCC (255 Front West, downtown — the North and South Buildings, 600,000 square feet, the largest shows): the Front Street and Lower Simcoe drop-offs, the SkyWalk from Union, the downtown hotels around it, the conference transportation article's coordinators and Sprinters. The Enercare Centre (Exhibition Place — 1,000,000 square feet, the consumer shows and the largest trade shows): the Manitoba Drive north entrance via the Dufferin Gate, the Princes' Gates' east entrance, the Strachan closures, the Enercare Centre article's loading docks. The International Centre (6900 Airport Road, Mississauga — 500,000 square feet, the airport-adjacent trade shows): eight minutes from Terminal 1, the airport strip's hotels, the International Centre article's 5 p.m. crush on Airport Road. The Toronto Congress Centre (650 Dixon Road, Etobicoke — 1,000,000 square feet, the airport strip's other venue): Dixon Road's entrances, the strip's hotels beside it, the airport strip guide's Sprinter standing runs. A show's venue decides its hotels, its routes and its crush.
January to March
January: the Toronto Boat Show (the Enercare — the year's opening consumer show, the lots full), the Interior Design Show (the MTCC — the design trade's Thursday and Friday, the public's weekend), the gift and home shows (the International Centre). February: the Canadian International AutoShow (the MTCC's ten days — the largest consumer show, the Front Street crush every afternoon), the security and the manufacturing shows (the International Centre). March: PDAC (the MTCC's first week — 25,000 delegates, every hotel from the core to the strip), the National Home Show and the Canada Blooms (the Enercare's ten days), the sportsmen's and the RV shows (the International Centre); the winter storm plan applies to the quarter's arrivals.
April to August
April and May: the manufacturing, packaging and automation shows (the International Centre and the Congress Centre), the cannabis expo, the franchise show (the Enercare), the wedding shows, the Royal Ontario Museum's spring exhibition openings that the design trade attends; June: Collision (the technology conference's Toronto years — the Enercare and the MTCC), the pride and the food shows, the Honda Indy's fortnight that closes the Enercare's grounds; July and August: the consumer shows' quiet season, the CNE's eighteen days at the Enercare, and the summer's smaller expos at the airport venues.
September to December
September: the fall home show, the TIFF's industry centre at the Lightbox, the construction and the design shows' first dates; October: the fall gift show, the Canadian Franchise Expo, the healthcare and the education shows (the MTCC), the design shows (the International Centre), the Nuit Blanche weekend; November: the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (the Enercare's and the Coliseum's ten days), the Christmas and craft shows (the International Centre and the Enercare), the construction show's second week, the Grey Cup's Toronto years; December: the Christmas shows' last weekends and the corporate holiday party season that fills the venues' event spaces. The venues' own calendars — the MTCC's, the Enercare's, the International Centre's, the Congress Centre's — are the sources, and dispatch keeps them on the wall.

The exhibitor's week
An exhibitor's week is the International Centre article's pattern at any venue: two setup days with the crates and the displays in a cargo-configured Sprinter from Pearson's cargo area, a downtown office or the freight forwarder to the venue's loading dock (the decorator's marshalling number, the dock's hours, the union rules on the hall floor), the show days' standing run between the hotel and the hall, the client dinners the visiting clients itinerary article covers, and the teardown evening's crates out and the team to the airport; the luggage capacity article covers the Sprinter's cargo arithmetic and the expense reports article the booth staff's receipts.
The delegate's week
A delegate's week is the conference transportation article's: the arrival at Pearson with meet and greet or the arrival-day coordinator's board, the hotel (downtown for the MTCC's shows, the airport strip for the International Centre's and the Congress Centre's, either for the Enercare's), the daily run to the hall (a walk or the SkyWalk for the MTCC's downtown hotels; a Sprinter standing run for the strip's), the evening's receptions and dinners, and the departure; the group transfers article covers a delegation's Sprinter and the UP Express comparison the honest train for a solo MTCC delegate from Terminal 1 to Union.
The organiser's account
A show's organiser — the trade association, the events company, the media group — runs the show's own transport on a corporate account: the keynote speakers' and the VIPs' arrivals with meet and greet, the organiser's staff's daily runs, the sponsors' dinners, the press's transfers, the arrival-day coordinators' vehicles, and the corporate account billing article's statement by show; the organiser's transport manager sends dispatch the VIP manifest a week ahead and the roadshow article's buffer discipline runs the keynote's morning.
The 5 p.m. crush
Every venue has a 5 p.m. crush when the show closes — the MTCC's Front Street lay-by and the Gardiner's Lower Simcoe ramp, the Enercare's Strachan and the Gardiner's Lake Shore exit, the International Centre's Airport Road and the 409, the Congress Centre's Dixon Road and the 427 — and a chauffeur meets the passenger ten minutes before closing or ten minutes after the crush clears, at the venue's side door or the next corner; the rush hour article's evening windows compound the crush and the International Centre article's Derry Road exit is the pattern for every venue's back way out.
The hotels by show
A show's venue and size decide the city's hotel demand for its week: PDAC and the auto show sell out downtown (the Financial District hotels guide and the Toronto luxury hotels guide) and push delegates to the strip; the International Centre's and the Congress Centre's shows sell out the strip (the airport strip guide) and push exhibitors to Mississauga's Square One and downtown; the Enercare's consumer shows fill King West and Liberty Village's hotels (the Liberty Village guide); a booker who knows which show is on the week of a client's visit books the hotel and the car together. The Pearson to downtown hotels article covers the arrival to each.
The booking horizon
The large shows — PDAC, the auto show, the boat show, the Royal, Collision, the fall gift show — commit the fleet's Sprinters and the arrival-day coordinators two to three weeks ahead; the mid-sized shows one to two weeks; the small expos a few days. An exhibitor books the setup Sprinter when the booth is confirmed, a delegation its arrivals when the registration is, an organiser its VIP fleet when the speakers are; the how early to book article puts the show calendar's peaks beside the airport's, and the last-minute booking article explains why a same-day request during PDAC week is the year's least likely to succeed.
The show's after-hours
A show's evenings are its receptions (the venues' event spaces, the downtown hotels' ballrooms, the King West and Distillery venues — the event limo page), its sponsors' dinners (the fine dining article's rooms), its industry's parties, and — for the airport venues' delegates — the Woodbine casino ten minutes from the strip; the Entertainment District guide's side streets and the Nuit Blanche and late-night article's roster serve them.
A worked show year: a manufacturing company's booker
January: the company's booth at the International Centre's manufacturing show — the setup Sprinter, the standing run from a Dixon Road hotel, the client dinner in Mississauga. March: PDAC — the company's mining-equipment division's delegation of eight, the MTCC, the Royal York, the roadshow's sedans (booked in January). June: Collision — two executives, the Enercare, a King West hotel. September: the construction show — the booth again, the Enercare's dock. November: the Royal — the company's agricultural-equipment division's booth in the Enercare, the Horse Show's client evening. Twelve show weeks, one account, five venues' docks, and a booker who booked each when the booth was confirmed.

Booking a show week
The corporate car service page opens an exhibitor's, a delegation's or an organiser's account; the conference transportation article, the Enercare Centre article and the International Centre article cover each venue; the engine books a single show day's transfer. Book when the booth is confirmed.
The show's international arrivals
A large show's exhibitors and delegates arrive from abroad — Frankfurt's and Milan's machinery makers for the manufacturing shows, Shenzhen's electronics exhibitors for the technology ones, Perth's and Santiago's miners for PDAC, the American dealers for the auto show — and the arrivals hall's week is the customs time article's slow one, the meet and greet with the company's board the pattern, the exhibitor's samples through CBSA with a carnet the chauffeur has seen before, and the deposits and payment article's foreign-card terms the account's; the Pearson vs Billy Bishop comparison notes that the Montreal and New York delegates to an MTCC show land on the island fifteen minutes from the hall.
