Whitby from the driver's seat
Whitby — between Ajax and Oshawa on the lake, from Lake Ontario north through downtown and Brooklin to the 407 and the Oak Ridges Moraine — is 55 to 70 minutes from Pearson via the 401 across Toronto (80 to 110 at the peaks) or 60 to 75 via the 407 (at almost any hour, with the toll shown), and 45 to 60 from downtown Toronto. Its black car trade is the airport, the Toronto commute and evening, the downtown's and Brooklin's occasions, the hospitals, the banquet halls' and golf clubs' weddings and the Durham Region's corporate and government offices.
Whitby is the seat of Durham Region's government and the region's most Victorian town: the downtown's Brock Street with its four corners at Dundas, the heritage houses of the streets around it, Port Whitby's harbour and marina on the lake, Brooklin's village nine kilometres north (once a farm town, now a suburb of thirty thousand with the village's main street still at its heart), and the 407's eastern extension ending at Highway 412 and 418 on the town's borders. For a black car it is a town whose airport run is long, whose 407 access is the best in Durham (the highway ends here), whose households commute to Toronto on the GO and book the car for everything else, and whose banquet halls and golf clubs host the region's weddings. This page covers the neighbourhoods and their pickups, the airport and the 407, the hospitals and Ontario Shores, the corporate and government town, the weddings, the Toronto run, Brooklin and the north, and a day worked through.

The neighbourhoods and their pickups
Downtown Whitby (Brock Street from the 401 to Rossland, the four corners at Dundas, the Whitby Public Library, the Station Gallery, the Centennial Building): the shops and restaurants with pickups on the side streets (Colborne, Mary, Byron, Green), the library's lot. Port Whitby (Brock Street south of the 401 to the harbour, the marina, the Whitby GO station on Henry Street, Iroquois Park Sports Centre, the Abilities Centre): the marina's lot, the GO's kiss-and-ride, the arenas' loops, the Abilities Centre's porte-cochère. Pringle Creek, Blue Grass Meadows, Rolling Acres and the central subdivisions (Thickson, Anderson, Garden Street): the door. Williamsburg, Taunton North and the north (Taunton Road, the newer subdivisions): the door, the community centres' loops. Brooklin (Baldwin Street's village main street, the Brooklin Community Centre, the new subdivisions to the east and west): the village's side streets, the door. Lynde Shores and the west (Victoria Street, the conservation area): the door, the conservation area's gate. The 401 corridor (Thickson Road's industrial parks, the Durham Region headquarters on Rossland): the offices' lay-bys. The Durham guide covers the routes; the street notes are on dispatch's map.
The airport, the 401 and the 407's end
Whitby to Pearson is the 401 west across all of Toronto to the 427 (55 to 65 minutes at 4 a.m., 80 to 110 at the peaks) or the 407 — north on Highway 412 (the toll link from the 401 at Whitby's western edge) or Thickson Road to the 407's eastern extension, west across the top of the city to the 427 — at 60 to 75 at almost any hour, with a distance-based toll the engine shows; the 412 and 418 links became toll-free in 2022, which makes Whitby's 407 access the cheapest in Durham after the main highway's charge. Our practice: the 401 overnight and midday, the 407 at the peaks and on the 401's bad days, offered as a line item and approved at booking; the 407 article explains the toll and the Durham guide works the decision by neighbourhood. The Pearson page has the procedure at Door A; the early-morning guide the 4 a.m. routine that Whitby's flights require.
Lakeridge Health Whitby, Ontario Shores and healthcare
Lakeridge Health's Whitby site on Gordon Street, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences on the lakeshore at Gordon Street (a provincial psychiatric hospital with a campus of its own) and the Whitby Health Centre bring patients, families and visiting clinicians, with the standing-order pattern for older residents' appointments; Lakeridge Health Oshawa and its R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre are fifteen minutes east, Ajax Pickering fifteen west, and the Toronto hospitals 50 to 75 west. The seniors' guide, the medical appointments article and the healthcare executive transport article describe the arrangements, and Ontario Shores' campus loop is on the chauffeur's map.

The county town: government, corporate and the Abilities Centre
Durham Region's headquarters on Rossland Road, the Durham Regional Police headquarters, the Durham Catholic and public school boards, the town hall and the courts bring the region's government to Whitby, and the Thickson Road industrial parks, the 401 corridor's logistics operators and the downtown's professional firms its companies; their black car work is the Pearson run (long from here, with the 407 approved on the account), client and official pickups with meet and greet, hourly days for visiting executives and the Sprinter to a Toronto client dinner or a Queen's Park meeting; corporate accounts hold the building's lay-by and the 407 policy. The Abilities Centre on Victoria Street at Port Whitby — the accessible sports and community complex built for the Pan Am Games — hosts national para-sport events and conferences, and its porte-cochère and the accessible vehicles the accessibility article describes are part of our Whitby work.
Weddings: the halls, the clubs and the downtown
Whitby's weddings are at the banquet halls of the 401 corridor and Thickson Road, the Royal Ashburn and Whitby golf clubs' ballrooms, the Heydenshore Pavilion on the waterfront, the Station Gallery and the downtown's churches, and at the Brooklin and countryside venues north of Taunton; the transport is the wedding page's with the town's specifics: a couple's stretch or premium sedan from a Pringle Creek home to a Brock Street church, photographs at the harbour or Lynde Shores, the reception at a club with a porte-cochère on the chauffeur's map, and a guest bus from the 401 corridor's hotels; the venue notes cover the clubs and the Heydenshore.
Downtown Toronto and the commute
Whitby to the Financial District is the 401 west and the DVP to the Gardiner (45 to 60 minutes off-peak, 70 to 100 at the peaks); a Leafs game, a Yorkville dinner or a Mirvish show is an hourly booking with the chauffeur waiting downtown and the arena or theatre guide's pickup, and the Lakeshore East GO from Whitby station is the honest single-passenger alternative for the commute (55 minutes to Union). Whitby's regulars ride the GO to work and book the car for the airport, the evening and the family.
Brooklin, the moraine and the north
Brooklin's village — Baldwin Street's shops and restaurants, the Brooklin Spring Fair in June (the village's main event since 1911), the Community Centre's arenas, the new subdivisions that have made a farm town a suburb — and north of it the Oak Ridges Moraine's countryside toward Port Perry and Uxbridge, the Heber Down conservation area, the golf clubs (Royal Ashburn, Winchester) and the estate lots of the concessions are Whitby's north; a black car booking there is a driveway pickup, and the fall colours drives article covers the moraine in October. Port Perry on Lake Scugog, thirty minutes north, is a day out the visitor guide suggests.
Oshawa, Ajax and the neighbours
Oshawa's downtown, the university and the Generals' arena are ten to fifteen minutes east (the Oshawa guide), Ajax's downtown and waterfront ten west (the Ajax guide), Pickering's casino resort twenty west (the Pickering guide), and Bowmanville and Clarington twenty east. A Whitby family's trip to an Oshawa Generals game, a Pickering casino night or a Bowmanville zoo day is a short fixed fare.
A Whitby day, in cars
3:45 a.m. — an SUV from a Brooklin home to Terminal 3 via the 407 (approved at booking — the 412 from the 401 is free and the 401 is closed overnight at the 404 for construction), sixty-three minutes. 7:00 — a Durham Region executive from Rossland Road to a Queen's Park meeting via the 401 and DVP, waiting on an hourly clock. 10:00 — a visiting clinician from a Pearson arrival with meet and greet to Ontario Shores via the 407, seventy minutes. 1:00 p.m. — a Port Whitby couple's standing car to Lakeridge Health Whitby and the pharmacy on Brock. 3:00 — a stretch limousine and a Sprinter begin a Royal Ashburn wedding: the couple from a Williamsburg home to a Brock Street church, the harbour for photographs, the club's porte-cochère, the last drop at midnight. 6:30 — a downtown Whitby couple to a Mirvish show via the 401 and DVP, hourly, home at 11:30. Every trip a fixed fare, two via the 407.

Booking a car in Whitby
The engine prices any Whitby address and shows the 407 option for Pearson; the notes field takes the hall, the hospital's entrance or the village's street. Corporate accounts set a 407 policy once; standing orders cover the weekly trips.
Whitby's early departures and the 412's gift
Whitby's travellers fly to the Caribbean, South Asia, Europe and the sun on early departures, and the 4 a.m. pickup is the town's most common booking: the chauffeur assigned the evening before and confirming by text from the driveway, the 401 across an empty Toronto in an hour or — when the 401 is closed overnight for construction, which happens most weeks somewhere between the 404 and the 427 — the toll-free 412 to the 407 and around the city in the same time. The luggage is confirmed at booking so the SUV or Sprinter goes rather than a sedan; late-night arrivals are met at Door A with meet and greet; and the early-morning guide and the family transfers guide cover the routine.
The Whitby GO, the commute and the single traveller
The Whitby GO station on Henry Street at Port Whitby — with its large parking structure and the kiss-and-ride loop that is the town's morning ritual — puts Union Station 55 minutes away, and the Lakeshore East line is the honest single-commuter alternative that Whitby's regulars use; the Durham Region Transit buses and the Pulse route along Dundas are the other transit. For the airport there is no rail from Whitby, and the UP Express comparison shows GO plus UP Express at more than two hours against the car's one; the school run, the hockey run to Iroquois Park's arenas and the weekly appointments are the standing orders the recurring rides article describes.
Iroquois Park, the tournaments and Whitby's sports
Iroquois Park Sports Centre at Port Whitby — six ice pads, pools and fields, one of the largest municipal sports complexes in Canada — hosts the hockey and ringette tournaments that bring teams from across Ontario every winter weekend, and the Abilities Centre next door the para-sport events; the sports teams article covers the Sprinters and buses of visiting teams and the arena's loops are on the chauffeur's map. Whitby's groups book the stretch SUV for the downtown's birthday nights, the Pickering casino twenty minutes west, the Oshawa Generals' games ten minutes east and the Toronto arena and theatre nights an hour west; the event limo page covers the pickups.
Booking notes for Whitby
Three small things. Approve the 407 on every airport booking; the 412 link is free, the engine shows the 407's charge, and the chauffeur uses it only when the 401 is broken. For the hospitals and Ontario Shores, name the entrance and the appointment time. And for Brooklin's Spring Fair weekend in June and the downtown's festival weekends, take the pickup point the confirmation gives — Baldwin and Brock Streets close.
