Oakville from the driver's seat
Oakville — on the lake between Mississauga and Burlington, from Winston Churchill Boulevard to Burloak Drive and north to the 407 — is 30 to 45 minutes from Pearson via the QEW and the 427 or the 407 (50 to 75 at the peaks), 40 to 55 from Hamilton's airport, and 35 to 60 from downtown Toronto via the QEW and the Gardiner. Its black car trade is the airport in both directions, the QEW corridor's head offices, the lakeshore estates' households, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, the harbours' and golf clubs' weddings and the Toronto evening.
Oakville is where the QEW's traffic and the lake's calm meet: the town's downtown on Lakeshore Road at the Sixteen Mile Creek's harbour, Bronte's village at its own harbour, the estates of Morrison and Ford between the lake and the QEW, the Glen Abbey and River Oaks subdivisions north of it, the head-office corridor along the QEW and the 403 (Ford Canada, Siemens, the pharmaceutical and insurance companies), the new Uptown Core and the 407's edge. Its households book black cars the way Rosedale's do — the airport at every hour, the school run to Appleby College and the private schools, the standing orders for parents, the Toronto evening — and its companies book them the way the Financial District's do. This page covers the neighbourhoods and their pickups, the QEW and the 407 and the airport from each, the corporate corridor, the hospital, the harbours' and clubs' weddings, the Toronto and Hamilton runs, and a day worked through.

The neighbourhoods and their pickups
Downtown Oakville (Lakeshore Road from Kerr to Trafalgar, Navy Street, the harbour): the shops and restaurants with pickups on the side streets (Church, Dunn, Thomas, Navy), the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts' Navy Street lay-by, the harbour's Water Street, the Towne Square. Morrison and Ford (the estates between Lakeshore and the QEW east of Trafalgar): long driveways, pickups at the door; Appleby College's Lakeshore Road loop. Bronte (Lakeshore Road West at the Bronte Creek's harbour): the village's restaurants, the marina, the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park; pickups on the side streets. Kerr Village (Kerr Street from the QEW to Lakeshore): the strip's restaurants and the Kerr Street festival's closures. Glen Abbey and River Oaks (north of the QEW, west and east of Dorval): the golf club's gates, the subdivisions' streets. The Uptown Core and the north (Trafalgar at Dundas, the new towers and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital): the towers' porte-cochères, the hospital's loop, the Oakville GO and Bronte GO stations' loops. The QEW corridor (the head offices along the North Service Road and Winston Churchill): the campuses' lay-bys. The Oakville guide covers the QEW routes; the street notes are on dispatch's map.
The QEW, the 407 and the airport from each neighbourhood
Oakville to Pearson has two routes: the QEW east to the 427 north (30 to 40 minutes off-peak from downtown Oakville, 50 to 75 at the peaks, when the QEW through Mississauga and the 427's merge are the region's second-worst stretch after the 401), or the 403 and the 407 — north on Trafalgar or Dorval to the 407, east to the 427 — which avoids the QEW entirely and runs 35 to 45 minutes at almost any hour at a distance-based toll the engine shows. Our practice for Oakville: the QEW off-peak and evenings, the 407 at the peaks and on the QEW's closure days, offered as a line item and approved at booking. Hamilton's airport is the QEW west and Highway 6 south (40 to 55 minutes) and is a genuine alternative for sun flights; the Hamilton airport page covers it. The Pearson to Oakville guide works the decision by neighbourhood; the Pearson page has the procedure at Door A.
Corporate Oakville
The QEW corridor's head offices — Ford Canada's on the QEW, Siemens, the pharmaceutical, insurance and packaged-goods companies along the North Service Road, Winston Churchill and the 403, the Sheridan College Trafalgar campus's neighbours — and the professional firms of downtown Oakville book the Pearson run (with the 407 approved on the account), client pickups with meet and greet, hourly days for visiting executives and the Sprinter to a downtown Toronto client dinner; corporate accounts hold the campus's lay-by and the 407 policy, and the roadshow guide applies when an Oakville company's investors tour its plants and offices.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and healthcare
Halton Healthcare's Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Dundas Street at the Uptown Core, opened in 2015, is the town's hospital, with an entrance loop and the standing-order pattern for older residents' appointments; Milton District Hospital is twenty minutes north, Joseph Brant in Burlington fifteen west, Credit Valley in Mississauga fifteen east, and the Toronto hospitals 40 to 60 east. The seniors' guide and the medical appointments article describe the weekly arrangements that Oakville's lakeshore households set up for parents.
Weddings: the harbours, the clubs and the estates
Oakville's weddings are among the region's most photographed: the harbours at downtown and Bronte, the Oakville Club and the Oakville Golf Club, Glen Abbey's clubhouse, the Harbour Banquet and Conference Centre, the Oakville Conference Centre, the churches of downtown and the estates' lawns. The transport is the wedding page's with the town's specifics: a couple's stretch or premium sedan from a Morrison estate to a downtown church, photographs at the harbour's lighthouse or Gairloch Gardens, the reception at a club with a porte-cochère on the chauffeur's map, and a guest bus from the QEW corridor's hotels; the venue notes cover the clubs. Saturdays from May to October are booked weeks ahead, and the Niagara vineyard weddings that Oakville's families favour are ninety minutes west on the QEW.
Appleby College, the schools and the school run
Appleby College on Lakeshore Road West is the town's boarding and day school, with a drop-off loop and boarders who arrive at Pearson from around the world — a parent in Hong Kong or Mexico City booking a Pearson pickup with meet and greet for a child landing alone, and the handover at the school's front office, is a booking we make from abroad for Oakville every September and January; the boarding schools article describes the handover. The town's other schools — St. Mildred's-Lightbourn, the Oakville public and Catholic schools, the Toronto private schools that a few Oakville families drive to — generate the school-run standing orders; the standing orders article has the mechanics.
Downtown Toronto for the evening
Oakville to the Financial District is the QEW and the Gardiner (35 to 50 minutes off-peak from downtown Oakville, 60 to 90 at the peaks); a Leafs game, a Yorkville dinner or a Mirvish show is an hourly booking with the chauffeur waiting downtown and the arena or theatre guide's pickup. Oakville's own evenings — the Lakeshore Road restaurants, the Bronte patios, Kerr Village's rooms, the Oakville Centre's season — are short hops with pickups on the side streets, and the downtown's festival calendar (the Oakville Jazz Festival in August, the Kerr Street festival in June, the Bronte Bluegrass festival, the Waterfront Festival, the Santa Claus Parade) closes Lakeshore and Kerr for weekends at a time; dispatch has the dates.
Golf, the lake and the Oakville weekend
Glen Abbey (the Canadian Open's long-time home), the Oakville Golf Club, the Oakville Executive and the Halton clubs north of the 407 host the town's golf days, and the Oakville Yacht Squadron, the Oakville Club and the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club its sailing; the golf days article covers the clubs' loops and the 6 a.m. tee-time pattern. A summer Saturday for a visiting couple — the harbour, lunch on Lakeshore, Bronte's marina, Gairloch Gardens — is an hourly booking the visitor guide suggests for a day out of the city.
Burlington, Mississauga and Hamilton
Burlington's downtown and waterfront are fifteen minutes west along the QEW or Lakeshore (the Burlington guide), Mississauga's Port Credit fifteen minutes east (the Mississauga guide), Milton twenty minutes north up Highway 25 or Trafalgar (the Milton guide), and Hamilton 30 to 40 minutes west (the Hamilton guide). An Oakville family's trip to a Burlington waterfront dinner, a Mississauga banquet hall or a Hamilton Tiger-Cats game is a short fixed fare.
An Oakville day, in cars
4:50 a.m. — a sedan from a Morrison estate to Terminal 1 via the QEW and 427, thirty-one minutes, the town asleep. 7:45 — the school run: an SUV from Glen Abbey to Appleby College and on to St. Mildred's, a standing order. 9:30 — a QEW corridor executive to a Bay Street meeting via the QEW and Gardiner, waiting on an hourly clock. 1:00 p.m. — a Bronte couple's standing car to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial and the pharmacy on Lakeshore. 3:30 — a boarder's parent in Mexico City has booked a Pearson pickup with meet and greet; the chauffeur holds the name board at Door A and makes the handover at Appleby's front office at 5. 6:30 — a premium sedan from a Ford estate to a Yorkville restaurant via the QEW and Gardiner, waiting, home at 10:30. Every trip a fixed fare.

Booking a car in Oakville
The engine prices any Oakville address and shows the 407 option; the notes field takes the estate's gate, the club or the campus. Corporate accounts set a 407 policy once; standing orders cover the school run and the weekly trips.
Oakville Place, the Uptown Core and the new Oakville
Oakville Place at Trafalgar and the QEW, the Uptown Core's towers and plazas at Trafalgar and Dundas, the Oakville Trafalgar hospital's neighbourhood and the new subdivisions of North Oakville (Preserve, Joshua Creek, River Oaks North) are the town's growth edge, and their households — younger than the lakeshore's, with children and a Pearson run every second week — book the airport, the school run and the family SUV; pickups are at the towers' porte-cochères and the subdivisions' doors, and the Trafalgar corridor's construction changes the turns month by month. The family transfers guide covers the child seats and the luggage that North Oakville's bookings carry.
Sheridan College, the GO stations and the single traveller
Sheridan College's Trafalgar campus brings student traffic — Pearson pickups for international students with meet and greet, convocation cars in June — and the convocation article covers the days. The Lakeshore West GO line from Oakville, Bronte and Clarkson stations runs to Union in 35 to 45 minutes and is the honest single-passenger alternative for the downtown commute; for the airport there is no rail from Oakville, and the UP Express comparison works the numbers — GO to Union and UP Express back out is ninety minutes with two transfers, and the car via the QEW or 407 is forty.
Oakville's corporate holiday parties and group nights
Oakville's companies book the limo bus for holiday parties at the Oakville Conference Centre, the Harbour Banquet Centre and the downtown Toronto venues, and the town's groups book the stretch SUV for the Lakeshore Road birthday nights, the run to a Leafs game or a Budweiser Stage concert and the Niagara wine tours that Oakville favours; the holiday party article covers the two-stage plan that gets sixty people home to Glen Abbey, Bronte and the Uptown Core at 1 a.m., and the wine tour guide the vineyard day that starts in Oakville an hour closer than Toronto.
Booking notes for Oakville
Three small things. Approve the 407 as a contingency on airport bookings at the peaks; the engine shows the toll and the chauffeur uses it only when the QEW is broken. For the harbour and Lakeshore Road, name the restaurant or the club and the chauffeur names the side street; the festival weekends close Lakeshore and Kerr and the confirmation carries the pickup point. And for Hamilton's airport, check the fare in the engine before you book Pearson for a sun flight — from Oakville it is often the shorter drive.
